    form follows function

The Lei is a simple, elegant aroma diffuser powered by a candle. As a tealight candle is lit and placed in a glass lantern, the heat is conducted through a metal tongue that holds essential oil in a tiny tray, and a mechanism that converts heat into kinetic energy turns the fan blade. When the blade is pushed clockwise, the fan rotates for as long as the candle burns, and after a few minutes the room is quietly filled with the aroma of  essential oil. Using minimalist aesthetics, Japanese sensibility, and, most importantly, physics, the “form follows function” design maxim is embodied in the Lei.
