1995年，三名日本札幌市新琴似區的居民組織了一支民間舞蹈隊伍：新琴似天舞龍神。為了日後發展，舞團創作了新品牌，包括兩個元素：用書法寫成的漢字「天」，以及水彩畫風的朝陽。「天」是天舞龍神的第一個漢字，由三筆形象化的筆劃組成﹔代表舞團的太陽是以水彩描繪、半透明、朱紅色的日出圖像。朝日的設計，象徵著新琴似天舞龍神繼續尋求突破，並弘揚日本傳統民間舞蹈。
