環境設計 | 環境設計師 Condition_Lab 總監
「無論我們設計的東西是貴或便宜，複雜或簡單，均要記住最重要的一個基礎：建築的存在是為了幫助人，而不是拿來展示。」
林敏欣是香港中文大學建築學院在讀博士生，並先後於2013年及2018年在該學院完成學士及碩士學位。兩年的碩士課程令林敏欣重新認識建築設計的意義，她對自己的定位不僅是設計師，也是一名研究者。2018年碩士最後一年，她的「REPAIR (IN) HONG KONG」項目研究香港逐漸消失的街頭維修小店，並以繪畫將它們記錄下來。碩士畢業後，林敏欣與兩位合夥人聯合創辦Condition_Lab，並擔任其總監至今。Condition_Lab是一所融合教學、研究和設計為一身的非典型工作室。
秉持建築需要幫助人的信念，林敏欣在中國和非洲鄉村開展項目，為當地小朋友設計建造圖書館。從2018年至今，她已在湖南兩個偏遠山區設計建造了高步書屋和坪坦書屋，新項目馬龍書屋亦已與今年開始興建，預計於2025年完成；計劃在肯尼亞興建的Kuku Book House亦已完成原型設計。
林敏欣相信，獲取建築設計靈感的最好方法，便是在當地居住、了解當地人的生活。她認為，唯有這樣才能夠了解使用者的真正需求，設計的建築才能適合當地的環境。在採用新式建築材料的同時，也儘量運用傳統工藝去建造。在她心目中，項目建成並不是終點，林敏欣自己或團隊成員會不定期回訪，考察當地人口、環境變化，進而對建築作出修改。像第一個建成的圖書館高步書屋所在的鄉村，如今已經發生了很大的變化，林敏欣計劃將圖書館改造成可供休閒、節慶用的空間，以便所有村民使用。
過去項目主要是針對小朋友用家的設計，身為女性建築師，林敏欣未來希望更以女性用家為本，計劃前往德國女建築師Anna Heringer的工作室學習。
