Like many other Chinese villages, modernisation is threatening the society of the rural community of Gaobu. The book house replenishes the lack of educational facility and gives children a safe space to learn and reading. The educational incubator preserves local architectural designs. The central staircase acts both as a means of circulation and as the identity for the building. The ground floor is conceived as a covered open space for public gatherings and local exhibitions.
