Folded Flame
Forged from the steel traditions of Kitakyushu, this foldable fire pit distills industrial heritage into poetic precision. Composed of just four laser-cut plates, it unfolds in seconds—petal-like panels interlock to form an elegant triangular hearth that balances sculptural grace with practical function. When lit, its curved surfaces channel air through discreet slits beneath the base, producing a clean, steady flame while protecting the ground below. Each 1.6 mm steel plate is dyed through the kurozome technique, a deep black finish that resists rust and gains character with every use. The minimal structure collapses into a slim, handbag-like form with an integrated handle, slipping easily into a backpack or drawer. No bolts, no tools—just the quiet satisfaction of assembly by hand. Compact yet elemental, it embodies Japanese craftsmanship at its most essential: a design that celebrates fire, material, and the beauty of simplicity.
