"My inspiration comes from life—small, yet unique and intriguing details."
Wilson earned his Bachelor’s degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and later obtained a Master’s degree from Central Saint Martins. In 2021, he founded his own fashion brand, Wilsonkaki, and recently showcased his collections at Tokyo Fashion Week.
The brand embraces a philosophy of practical and innovative design, with a focus on everyday details. One of Wilson's most iconic designs is the magnet pants, which feature magnetic fasteners in place of traditional zippers or buttons. This self-closing mechanism not only enhances convenience but also eliminates the common embarrassment of forgetting to zip up. This design earned him several awards, including the champion at the 2019 Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC), setting the stage for the launch of his brand.
The same year his brand was founded, Wilson was named one of the ’10 Asian Designers to Watch’. His theatrical designs attracted the attention of many singers and stylists in Hong Kong and Taiwan, who invited Wilson to create performance costumes for their concerts. Despite focusing on everyday wear, Wilson constantly reflects and experiments with new approaches, as demonstrated by the pleating techniques in his 2024 Spring/Summer collection.
Wilson has been awarded numerous awards and scholarships that have allowed him to pursue further studies. Now approaching its fourth year, his brand continues to grow in the fast-evolving fashion industry. Wilson is keen to learn from up-and-coming brands, not only in terms of design but also by gaining valuable insights into marketing strategies.
