DFA Design for Asia Awards 2024 l Bronze Award l Spatial Design l Culture & Public SpacesCircular Curiosity
This amphitheatre-style library features stepped bookshelves capable of housing 70,000 volumes, designed to spark curiosity and exploration. A circular ramp connects the floors, offering barrier-free access and seating areas for rest or reading. The library blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern, sustainable elements, such as local wood and recycled materials, and a colour scheme rooted in tradition. With its inclusive design and cultural impact, it has quickly become a hub for learning and community engagement.
