    Peeling Back Time
In a city where history and modernity constantly collide, few spaces embody duality like this artfully reimagined warehouse in Beijing. Once a utilitarian structure in the textile industry, the building has been transformed into a multi-level art venue that juxtaposes the raw beauty of its industrial past with the sleek, minimalist lines of contemporary design. The renovation embraces a ‘peeling back’ philosophy—exposing layers of rough red brick, weathered steel and raw concrete, while new structural elements integrate seamlessly with the existing peripheral brick walls, adding both stability and style. The curved ceiling enhances the space’s architectural fluidity, softening the industrial edges. Visitors ascend through a series of platforms and staircases, transitioning smoothly between old and new, art and architecture. With each step, the space reveals itself as an evolving canvas, where unfinished details and preserved imperfections echo the passage of time. The result is a dynamic environment that invites reflection, creativity and exploration, merging past and present into a unique architectural narrative.
