Cinema of Sands Emanating the atmosphere of an underground desert city, this cinema evokes timelessness through its artful use of monotone bricks, reminiscent of ancient landscapes shaped by wind and sand. Drawing inspiration from Haikou’s geography, the design carefully stacks bricks to create undulating waves that flow seamlessly across ceilings, walls and seating areas. The challenge of using a single colour palette is skilfully overcome by manipulating light and texture, transforming the space into a dynamic, immersive environment. Each brick formation echoes the rhythm of the ocean, with every wave visible from any angle. Subtle lighting and vents are cleverly hidden within the brick patterns, enhancing the organic fluidity of the design. In the auditoriums, vibrant layered fabrics and rich colours provide a striking contrast to the monotone bricks, mimicking the energy of natural elements like the sea and flowers. This cinema elevates the movie-watching experience into a sensory journey that feels both intimate and monumental.
