50 Grips of Inspiration Enzo Catellani of Catellani & Smith once said, “ARAKAWA GRIP is a collection of elegant technical components that look like pieces of jewellery.” This sentiment is celebrated in 50 GRIPS, a book marking the 50th anniversary of ARAKAWA GRIP’s invention. Known for its minimalist design and versatility, ARAKAWA GRIP has long been used in museums, galleries and retail stores worldwide. The book, uniquely bound with the actual grip itself, invites readers to experience its functionality firsthand. Designed by Kaori Akiyama of STUDIO BYCOLOR, the publication features insights from over 50 prominent architects and designers, showcasing the innovative uses of the grip in diverse settings. Exhibited at the 2024 Milan Design Week, the book highlights the aesthetic beauty, sustainability and practical uses of this iconic fixture. With ARAKAWA GRIP now reaching wider audiences in Asia, this project continues to inspire creative possibilities in design while honouring a legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.
