First conceived under Via North Point by Hong Kong Arts Centre and funded by the Urban Renewal Fund, “Siu Kai Fong” is an architectural pop-up near the North Point Ferry Pier. The varying curvature of the colourful floor is reminiscent of the heritage tiles and patterns commonly found in tenements, and this simple yet effective project has transformed a formerly unnoticed public area under a bridge into an urban living room. The furniture, donated by North Point residents, and schools, NGOs, and businesses, has been repurposed and redesigned, and the whole local community is delighted with their new vibrant concourse.
