    restoreD harmony

The building is less than a minute’s walk from a train station currently undergoing renovation, and is surrounded by roads and near an undeveloped commercial area. The 11-metre-wide road in front, and the large elevated station across the street are at odds with the scale of the house, so the architects decided on a vaulted ceiling over six metres high on the side facing the street to balance the considerable disparity in scale between the residence and its surroundings. The roof descends gradually rather like a staircase towards the back of the house, which becomes a cosy, comfortable living space.
