DFA Design for Asia Awards 2022 l Silver Award l Spatial Design l Hospitality & Leisure SpacesTRADITION REINTERPRETED
Nestled in beautiful woodland in a marine park in northeast Hong Kong, the Hoi Ha Visitor Centre contains a multipurpose room designed as a glass pavilion, a caretakers office, a reception area, and other supporting facilities. The central lawn and sheltered outdoor spaces are suitable for small group activities, and the landscaping blends it all into the surrounding scenic countryside of Sai Kung in the style of a traditional village. The lawn acts as the focal point, a place for outdoor gatherings, so there is a small-town-like atmosphere where different styles of verandas and adjacent small courtyards acknowledge the local architecture.
