A Monument to Innovation AND RENOVATION
Dyson’s new global headquarters in Singapore are a bold, important statement about innovation, breathing new life into the repurposed St. James Power Station built a century ago. This heritage monument is one of the first industrial buildings of its kind in Southeast Asia, a national landmark in Singapore’s HarbourFront, providing a dramatic contextual backdrop for idea sharing and knowledge transfer. At the heart of the expansive corporate campus is the former multi-storey turbine hall, which has been turned into a circulation hub connecting all departments and functions, where meetings, discussions, and socialising take place. On each landing overlooking the hall, alternative work points hold break-out areas and quieter library spaces, and an amphitheatre in the hall is an ideal venue for talks and seminars. Lighting refraction remedies the lack of daylight in some areas, and soft furnishings have been added for acoustic support.
