DFA Design for Asia Awards 2020 l Grand Award | Gold Award l Environmental Design | Culture & Public SpacesThis Indoor Garden is Unlike Any Other
If a layover is too short for a dash to the city, Changi Airport brings the city to the passengers in the form of Jewel, offering an interwoven experience of people, nature and commercial activities. Jewel allows us to rethink what an urban centre can be, because not only is it a transportation facility where passengers can do some last minute shopping before catching a flight, but also a destination for a family to spend a leisurely afternoon in an indoor garden. Designed to solve a problem of access and land use, Jewel proves that a carefully curated experience can make a space functional and versatile. -
