DFA Design for Asia Awards 2021 l Silver Award l Product & Industrial Design | Professional & Commercial Product
The designer uses calcium carbonates in eggshells to create eco-friendly alternative wall tiles. The renewable bioceramic absorbs carbon dioxide from its surroundings, thus serving as a de-carboning filter. The product is a proof of concept that similar biomaterials such as seashells can be used to produce building materials. The innovative solution in developing a design process for treating bio-waste explores the potential of natural materials.
