This book chronicles a 50-year-old hotel in Guilin and its renovation. The all-black cover design of the book is a reference to the actual architecture—black facades with a hollowed-out exterior wall. The name of the building, which is also the title of the book, is laser cut out from the spine leaving a hollow hole—yet another design treatment to pay homage to the architecture.
