These signature gowns were inspired by the ancient court dress of Chinese officials. Civil servants’ gowns were embroidered with birds, and military officials’ gowns with beasts, but this collection reinterprets them with a modern twist, recreating the traditionally elegant silhouette that had disappeared in an increasingly westernised, homogenous fashion culture.
