The Creative Expo Taiwan has put the concept of “the city as the exhibition hall” into practice, but this year the venue was particularly apt as Matsu New Village is composed of modest, narrow red-brick houses, the front and back yards lined with banyan trees, offering snapshots of village life, a true embodiment of history. The village's three main colours, green, red and blue, were used as visual cues, and trees and plants completed the overall theme. Galvanised greenhouse pipes were combined with elastic industrial yarn and waterproof cloth to build temporary structures, serving as corridors to connect different houses. The lighting complemented daylight to create spatial depth, differentiating between day and night.
