DFA Design for Asia Awards 2020 l Grand Award with Special Mention
The Yulha Art Lounge is a creative solution for a perennial urban problem where residential neighbourhoods are cut off from the rest of the city by infrastructure such as highways and airports. After fieldwork to study the village’s character and needs, the originally unwelcoming and uninspiring area was turned into a public art and leisure space. Three-dimensional playgrounds, immersive artworks, neon lighting and super-graphics that create optical illusions both during the day and at night have been integrated along the riverside trail underneath a major highway.
