Designing Social Change through Art and Innovation
PANDAID is a non-governmental, not-for-profit website created and run by 300 volunteers to disseminate practical, science-based, easy-to-understand information to fight COVID-19. PANDAID features a simple design and clean layout, a wealth of visualisations and illustrations, clear instructions and useful information. Posters referring to pop culture icons, such as the Beatles’ Abbey Road album and a traditional Japanese tatami mat to show the distance necessary to stop contagion, explain and remind people about social distancing, and can be downloaded and printed. The most shared content was the downloadable and printable face shield template, which can be made in 30 seconds by cutting three slits in a clear A4 file. PANDAID continues to roll out new language versions to empower more people with the right kind of information and resources to overcome the challenges of this pandemic.
