The studio has transformed this 10,000-square-metre abandoned air-conditioner factory into an exhibition hall for the Biennale. They were commissioned to create a chronological narrative on the urban development of the locality and have erected a 250-metre-long physical timeline across the entire space composed of continuous membrane walls filled with light. The illuminated exhibition hall offers a stark contrast to the dark surrounding it. Not only does this minimum amount of intervention accentuate the scale and the old grid and truss system of the factory, but it also meets the tight construction schedule.
