BUILDING ON TRADITIONS
Designers took on a huge challenge to build a new Shinto shrine, a venue to host wedding ceremonies and other traditional rituals, in the sleek, modern hotels structure. The structure integrated the clean lines and open spaces, elements typical of modernist style in Tokyo, into a 140-year-old Japanese garden. Paying extra attention to Japanese traditions, the new space fits perfectly with its surroundings, capturing the reverent nature of ancient and modern Japan.
