Sitting at the redeveloped district of Beijing, the Hotel fit nicely to the local cityscape and the intricate system of back alleys. The hotel is designed to be inconspicuously casual to evoke a sense of home for the arriving visitors. The guest rooms incorporate the soft textures and utility of natural materials such as diatom earth, hemp, cotton and stone, all traditionally used in Beijing. The interior feels spacious and unconstrained by minimizing partitions and a flat ceiling. Using reclaimed bricks and timber from the redevelopment, and traditional Chinese bamboo materials, the vicinity of the hotel recreated the ambience of Lao-Beijing (Old Beijing).
