ZEN DEN

The residential-cum-artist studio are masterfully divided into two sets of the space system. The studio is hidden underground and the living space built on top, each conveys a completely different atmosphere, while maintaining an intrinsic connection with each other along the vertical direction. The roof of the underground studio is transformed into the courtyard. To ensure enough natural lighting and ventilation to the underground studio, architects built two serene courtyards, one at each end of the studio. The minimalist courtyards made up of ponds and bamboo forests connect the interior space and unite the interior with the exterior space.
