Fields of Continuity
Amid the misted hills of northern Fujian, an abandoned village school is reimagined as a living dialogue between landscape, memory, and renewal. The design restores rather than replaces—its continuous, curving roof links three old classrooms beneath five preserved metasequoias, forming both shelter and promenade. Brick walls retain moss and children’s drawings, while reclaimed timber and local bamboo find new purpose within. Inside, terraces, courtyards, and reflective pools echo the rhythms of rice fields beyond. Built by local hands, the architecture becomes part of the land’s quiet cycle—a place where education, cultivation, and contemplation meet once more.
