This project set out to reimagine migrant workers’ living environments, aiming to enhance quality of life, foster community engagement, and promote shared ownership of dormitory spaces. In collaboration with Dormitory Association Singapore, a live ‘show flat’ prototype was created, offering a fresh approach to space, tools and roles within the dormitory ecosystem. The resulting insights were compiled into handbooks for operators and managers, encouraging thoughtful reflection on management practices and relationships with residents. These handbooks, already in use by both dormitory operators and policymakers, serve as guidelines for implementing sustainable, human-centred improvements across the industry.
