Imagine a journey through Japan's most scenic landscapes aboard the Yakumo, a new intercity express train with 30 daily departures. This sleek, pendulum-style high-speed train travels from Okayama to Izumo in just three hours, reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h through mountainous terrain. Clad in a distinctive bronze metallic colour, Yakumo reflects the region's rich history and iron-making heritage. With diverse seating options—from luxurious first-class cabins to semi-private compartments for families with fully flat seating—it caters to every traveller's need. Co-created with passengers and JR West employees, Yakumo has quickly become a favourite, boosting ridership by 30% since its launch.
