“Sustainable fashion is not just a passing fad; it’s vital, and has great importance for the future, which is why I am merging technology with sustainable fashion.”
Brianna earned her Higher Diploma in Fashion Design at the Hong Kong Design Institute in 2023, and is currently studying at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, focusing on design and sustainability. Her Final Year Project at HKDI, "The Harmonious Coexistence of Nature, Humanity, and the Future," shows her dedication, and the collection is inspired by environmental pollution and whale deaths. Brianna's concept revolves around plants, sustainability, and fashion, symbolising the connection between humans and nature, and conveying the urgent need to protect the environment. Her 3D draping techniques and innovative deconstruction use natural fibre wool to capture the graceful curves of plants, and, to stress coexistence between nature and humans, real plants are sewn onto the outfits. The collection made a lasting impact, and earned Brianna numerous accolades, including the Overall Winner of The HKDI "NEW FASHION FORCE 2023" Fashion Show, and the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association Creativity Award.
Brianna's exceptional talent led to her nomination for the Levi's 501 Jeans Stories Campaign in 2023, which selected 150 Hong Kong artists, designers, celebrities, and ordinary citizens to design and personalise their jeans, and share them on social media. With techniques such as painting, embroidery and fabric collage, Brianna made the jeans vibrant and whimsical, by adding graffiti and poems. Through distressing, patchwork, and deliberate irregularities, the jeans became timeless, and full of all sorts of cultural memories, and Brianna was recognised as one of the winners of the campaign.
Brianna is eager to explore fashion and expand her horizons. She wants to study Sustainable Design in London, and learn about upcycling and zero-waste design as her ambition is to become a visionary fashion designer who not only creates beautiful garments, but also champions sustainability.
