INTERWEAVING TRADITIONS
This book is about the rich tapestries of Fai Tai, their bright colours, and the vibrant patterns created traditionally by the Hong Kong Hakka and Weitou women of the walled villages. Based on the oral histories and memories of these professional female weavers, it paints a vivid picture of the intricate Fai Tai designs and the tales they tell. The traditional Olive Pit on the cover of the publication is a symbol of goodwill towards a newborn child in Chinese culture, which, when turned, looks like a heart, emphasising the universality of love.
