Celebrating the 30 illustrious years of the GDC Award, a paramount recognition among Chinese designers since 1992, the design ingeniously fuses the award acronym “GDC” with a shadow projection forming “30”, a clever play on the Chinese character “Ying”, symbolising both “shadow” and “influence”, and aligning with its slogan, “Design for China’s Future”. The 3D elements either cast a shadow or create an optical illusion accentuating the idea of shadow on materials ranging from exhibition installations and badges to ceramic mugs and invitations. “30 Years, 30 Designers, 30 Letters”, further commemorates the personal tales designers share with the GDC Award.
