Single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras have long been synonymous with professional photography. However, a successor to SLR cameras entered the market with high praises for its usability, innovations, and quality. The Canon EOS R3 is a mirrorless camera intended for high-end photographers who seek to capture sharp photos of fast-moving subjects, such as athletes in competition, wildlife, and racing cars. Its major benefits are size and weight, usability, innovations, and quality. About 30% smaller and lighter than other SLR cameras with comparable performance, the EOS R3 has made photography more accessible to all, as well as professional photographers shooting under pressure.  

Near Instant Eye Control AutoFocus

The EOS R3 weighs only 1,015 grams, and it is built to the highest specifications: a new 24.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor offers high image quality, a DIGIC X image processor with an ISO range of 100–102,400 for all lighting conditions, and 6K RAW, 4K DCI, 4K UHD and Full-HD up to 240fps, 10-bit Canon Log 3 video capture capability. It is also the first mirrorless camera to feature intuitive Eye Control AutoFocus, which provides near-instant and exceptionally accurate focusing control with just the eyes. The viewfinder’s Eye Control pointer is visible without being distracting, so that it is not tiring to use for long periods.

A more compact but familiar body – a seamless experience to transition into the mirrorless age

The EOS R3 is robust with gently curved surfaces, a signature motif of the Canon EOS line, solidly based in ergonomics. Its dust and drip resistance, durability, and shooting performance are what professionals expect, and it is easy to slip in and out of its storage bag. The horizontal and vertical grips feel nearly the same as SLR models for intuitive, stress-free operation while switching shooting orientations, and the thumb motion reaching the buttons is consistent, whether the camera is held horizontally or vertically. 

The familiar control button layout of Canon’s Pro models remains, and the control dial and buttons have been optimised for the new mirrorless system, providing convenient shooting with consistent user interface icons and greater user customisation.

The vari-angle touchscreen LCD gives convenient access to still-image and video shooting styles not possible with conventional fixed LCD on other pro models, so that the camera offers a greater range of shooting possibilities for rich and creative imaging.
